You know those days when you feel like you have been crazy busy, but your house is a mess? And you know if anyone walked in your house at the moment they would be sure that you were sitting on your couch all day eating Bon Bons and watching Soaps. Well that is how I felt when I woke up yesterday morning. The picture above is how my kitchen looked in the morning... And I'll tell you what! I made breakfast, cleaned the bathrooms, got the kids ready for church, went to church, came home made a small lunch, then homemade rolls and cup cakes, had some people over for dinner. Corey had worked the night before and he was no help, and the baby is teething! I was exhausted and totally not feeling well so after our friends left I just went to bed. And when I woke up it was a very depressing site! Well I know we have ALL have those days. And I think we need a little something just to make those days better. so I am going to do a little contest. If you want to play.. then just respond to this post telling me some of your "not so good days" and I will have my kids pick your name from a jar and the winner will get a little something in the mail. Have fun..we all need to feel like were not alone on those messy kitchen days! contest ends. thursday Feb. 28th

What DID you do all day?

Just last night I had some fun in the kitchen. I was about to add the last layer to our family favorite, "spaghetti pie," which is a mix between lasagna and spaghetti. I had just finished cooking the meat mixture (sauce from scratch!) and turned to get the spoon. Somehow I caught the edge of the meat mixture bowl and it fell to the floor. AUGH!!!
The bowl was on its side so there was about 1/3 of the stuff left in it. I didn't have time to start over, so I just used what was left and added lots of extra cheese. It was okay. But when I started cleaning up the MESS on the floor, I couldn't believe how far it went! The main pile landed on my rug (still soaking in the sink) and there was meat and spaghetti sauce splattered up my jeans. It was all over the dishwasher, cabinets, fridge. It splattered the floor all the way to our table, about five feet away. I should have taken a picture.
It didn't clean up very easily either. It was the greasy-saucy texture and I was annoyed that I should have been eating it rather than scooping it up with paper towels! I still need to wash it better but I wasn't in the mood last night!
It was fun that you took the picture of your kitchen. Very honest. Mine can be scary on Monday mornings, after taking the day off somewhat on Sunday.
Keri, that is my kitchen everyday, unless I know someone is coming over. Don't feel bad. You are an amazing house wife! I think you do an incredible job at everything you do and deserve to go to bed early once in a while! Especially with a teething baby! I would love to come and help you clean it up if you would like!
UUUMMM that would be today-LOL! My house is seriously a wreck! Tuesday is my day to help in the classroom @ school, run Garrett to preschool, then to his speech class, both boys to baseball practice, & then to a basketball play off game & try to fit a fun, part time job in too! There is laundry all over one of my counters, toys everywhere, & I have a teething baby too! I can't believe your Brodey is getting teeth already! Our Brody just has his 2nd one pop up yesterday!
I think you are amazing & I am glad you just went to bed. I need to do that more often!

Ok I got your post this morning on why I haven't posted and you will soon find out..but to keep the story kindof short here it goes..
Wed the 13th.. the day we had the worst BLIZZARD EVER I had bad,bad pain for 3 hours slept on bathroom floor coulnd't get out of the neighborhood to go to the ER cause the roads were closed.
Thursday 14th VALENTINES..Teresa takes me to the er
they send me home after 4 hours allthough I am still complaining of bad back pain..dumb thing..
Friday 15th go to a different er..called surgeon.. get admitted into the hosp. that night have to have stomach pumped YUCK.the tube they put down your nose ahh..hurts..I am sure Corey knows what I am talking about
Sat. have surgery in the AM..intestines are twisted around bowels, I have a blockage and a band of scar tissue has to be removed..
sunday come home from hosp in the afternoon
for 4 days dont come out of my room stay in bed..
Went to doctors yesterday and I tell them my pain is still really bad and they said yes you have some large kidney stones that wont pass and they thought they would so now I have to go back in and have them take them out in a week. so ugg..that's my bad week drama..but now back to how the house looks after reading all that imagine what it would look like with 5 kids alone no parent for a couple days..you get the picture right...haha I had not one dish in the cupboard, no clean clothes for the kids, the day before the 14th I was trying to clean my room and had clothes that no longer fit all over the floor I thought oh I will come back to this...anyway needless to say I had some great family members and neighbors come over and help with the kids I am sure they thought they enter the pig zone..yuck!!
So do I win...lol..
Well that is my kichen every monday morning!! We clean on saturday, everything looks great, the kind of great as in if friends dropped by I'd feel proud to have them in. Then Sunday comes and so does the tornado! From the time they get up till the time the rest their precious heads my house gets the royal shake down! Being sunday I "want" to refuse to clean.I want to enjoy my sunday too! So monday comes and I have to get up and go teach water aerobics so I give the 2 yr old and 4 year old 3 more hours of shake down , so by the time I get home my house looks as if someone has picked it up turned it upside down, gave it a few good shakes and then put it back down! Needless to say I DREAD mondays!Trying to put it all back together again plus keep up w/ the 7 kids and the errands that still need to be run....It's enough to make you want to throw in the towel some days!So Keri I'm feelin' ya sweetie! But I have to say, Being my kids mom ROCKS!!!!
I like that in the large size of your kitchen photo there is a sign explaining the mess: "All because two people fell in love."
Makes me giggle.
Hey, Keri, check out my latest blog entry for my entry to your contest. There are pictures and explanation to prove my mess. I will say that the Ortt family sounds like a winner to me, but I've got to enter anyway.
Hey Keri,
I loved your blog... I have had so many days like that. I posted a very funny poem to read and it is mostly about what the husbands think about our days. Thought you, and Cathi, would enjoy reading it. Check out my blog! See you tomorrow! :)
By the way, how did you do such a cute header? I love it!!!
Well, let me just say that there are many days where, IF someone stopped by, I would have to say "CLIMB IN!" Our house is very lived in and there are things all over to prove it. There is a HUGE pile of unfolded socks in my hallway and I have no desire to do anything with it. I HATE folding laundry so much so that I don't fold most of it. It just goes in piles for each family member to put away on their own. My dish towels just get tossed in the drawer. They get unfolded anyway, so why waste my time?!! There are pots in my sink, a couple of beds to make, floors that need to be vacuumed, and ... the list goes on. My boys' backpacks just blow up the minute they open them after school. My house usually explodes the worst over the weekend. We get through chores on Saturday and then by the time the kids go to school on Monday, I'm left in a tornado zone. Your kitchen looks normal, Keri. You're a busy Mom who takes good care of her family. I'd rather my kids feel love in our home than too much tension over constantly cleaning it. Yes, they do have to pick up their things. Yes, they do have daily/weekly chores. I'm just saying that there has to be a balance, right? I'm still working on finding it ...
