I ALWAYS WONDERED ABOUT APRIL FOOLS DAY! WHO EVER THOUGHT OF IT ANYWAY! INEVER HAVE REALLY GOTTEN INTO IT, BUT I KNOW SOME DO. LIKE GIVING FAKE PREG. TESTS TO HUSBANDS ETC. SO I THOUGHT I WOULD LOOK IT UP. AND THIS IS WHAT I FOUND. . .

this super funny picture & The French History of April Fools Day

Blame Pope Gregory XIII and a calendar if you find yourself the target of an April fools joke. Until the 1500s, the Julian calendar was used to mark the days. The first day of the year began around March 25th on the Julian calendar. This date coincided with beginnings of spring and annual spring celebrations of light returning to the earth. France adopted the new Gregorian calendar in 1582, which made the first day of the new year January first. The story goes that peasants in the outlying rural areas had no knowledge of the change. Others refused to accept the new fangled calendar. New Year’s week, March 25th to April first continued to be celebrated. The sophisticated Frenchmen dubbed their ignorant compatriots, “fools.”

The “fools” were sent bogus invitations to non-existent New Year’s celebrations on April first. The “fools” became known as “poisson d’Avril” translated to April fish. Why fish? Young fish lack the experience to escape the hook. A favorite hoax was to attach a paper fish to the back of someone without his or her knowledge. The practice of playing jokes on others on April 1st spread to the rest of Europe.

CREATING HEALTHIER HABBITS

WEll....before I had brodey I was at the 9 month pregnancy weight from when I had Ethan and Halli. That means I was 25 pounds heavier than I was when I got pregnant with both of them. I thought I could only gain a few lbs this pregnancy and maybe even LOOSE weight after I had him! Well at my nine month pregnancy weight. I was
70 lbs....70 lbs!!! heavier than I was before kids. That is so unacceptable! Granted I am an emotional eater, and I have had a very emotional 7 years!! I know I have created some VERY bad habits for myself. I want to break the barrier. I have tried diet after diet, Work out after work out. And still the pounds cling...why?

I know why, My family eats HORRIBLE! We eat out all the time. Not only is it bad for us but very expensive. Also food choices in my home were not good either. And we always have a Trip to the gas station for a drink which turns into chips and twinkis and hot dogs...you get the point! I know I am not alone on this, so many families have this problem. But I have decided to be proactive.

I have never really been a health nut. My family loves food, but I decided to start cooking healthier, buying healthier things for my family and cutting some things out. One big thing for my family was fruit snacks! Those things are as bad as giving your kid candy! And mine would eat the whole box in one or two days. I have not bought fruit snacks for a while now and we really do not miss them. Also if I do not have the bad snacks in the house, we can not eat them. I really am trying to cut out soda and caffeine. And my FAVORITE thing that I have been doing is
cooking with pureed vegetables!

Amy S. got me the deceptively Delicious cookbook and I thought I would give it a try, and my kids love it. I am really amazed and feel so good about what I am giving them! they are loving the cauliflower scrambled eggs and sweet potato pancakes, and they never even notice when I put spinach in almost everything.check out her website at www.deceptivelydelicious.com I also switched to whole grain EVERYTHING not only bread but pasta and rice as well. I am choosing better in my shopping, And I really have seen a big difference. I am excited to be starting this now while my kids are young and don't really notice the impact and change, I am hoping it will stick and they will make healthier choices on their own.

So to date I have lost 35 lbs after having Brodey and I have 20 more to go. It is the 20 lbs I have been struggling with for 6 years! It has settled and does not want to move. But I am hoping with these changes it will have no choice. It is the little everyday things that I know I can stick with,(not fad diets) that will make the difference. Our Easter

Easter was so much fun this year! Corey got the night off of work and was home for the first night ever, and helped me set up easter baskets. That was a treat! Easter morning the kids had a easter egg and basket hunt. Ethan could not find his for the longest time. Then we got dressed in our easter best and headed of to church
After church I drug the kids out to take their pictures. (which you can see in the header I made above) they turned out soooo cute! After pictures we headed to my aunts house for dinner. The kids had another egg hunt and they all had a blast with bubbles, even the big kids. It was a beautiful day! It was just a perfect easter. Great spirit at church, a beautiful day (78 degrees), good food, family and fun. We could not have asked for a better easter!

Brodey 6 months old

I DO NOT KNOW WHY THE VIDEO IS NOT WORKING, I WILL HAVE TO FIX IT LATER. SORRY
Brodey is 6 months old. That means Steve has been out in the mission Field for 5 months. Why does it seem like time is flying? This video is funny, He is not laughing as hard as he usually does. I'll have to get one of him and Ethan, cause Ethan can really get him laughing, It also looks like he is getting a little shaken baby syndrome!!! buy he loves it! Today Brodey weighed 18 pounds at the DR. he is in 60% for height and 80% for weight. He rolls EVERYWHERE and is always bonking his head on the walls when he can't go any further. Today he was actually getting up on his knees and moving forward like an inch worm!! oh no! I was hoping he would stay stationary longer than this. His little personality is coming out so much too! he loves to laugh, so does Ethan! they are happy boys sometimes they will just sit and laugh at each other laughing! Brodey also still has dark hair and his eyes are staying blue. That is what I always wished I looked like, Coreys blue eye gene won with all the kid so far! I am excited about that! Brodey is eating, solids twice a day and loves it and so do I. He also grabs everything, he is always taking his binki out of his mouth and playing with it and then he puts it back in. I guess it has been a long time since I had a baby, cause I don't remember if the other kids did that this early! I have been working really hard at getting him to say MA Ma but no luck yet. WEll this concludes my update of Brodey, he is so cute! I am enjoying him so much.

Adventures in Tahoe

My sister in law Kristen invited us to tahoe for a day. My other sister in law Jessica came with me,because neither of our husbands could go. We packed us and 4 1/2 kids (jess is pregnant) into my car and headed up the mountain. First we took I-80 instead of I-50 and it took us an hour longer than it should have, but the real adventure was when my poor nephew got car sick and threw up his chocolate milk. We stopped and cleaned him up and got back on the road, when 15 min. later he was doing it again, jessica was like "lets just get there" and didn't want to stop so she climbed in the back to help him and SHE started to throw up as well... ewww! I was so lucky my kids didn't start throwing up too! the whole car stunk and I was like just plug your nose and don't throw up! WE finally reached our destination and it great. WE watched movies and in the morning had pancakes and the kids played in the snow for the first time this winter. They slid down a huge hill on a trash can lid and dug snow caves. Then we all went on a godala ride up toward Heavenly ski resort. We could see the whole lake. It was blue and white and absolutely beautiful! At the top we had a picnic lunch and enjoyed the view. After the ride we got hot chocolate and bought souveneirs. WE had so much fun! despite the throw up which was pretty funny now that I think about it! Thanks Kristen for inviting Us!

TAHOE!!

New computer!

Finally! we updated our 5 year old, slow as mud computer! I love it! it is sooooo fast! But that is also why I have not posted in a little while. And I went with two of my sister in laws to Tahoe a few days ago and I can't wait to get those pics on. So for now just Steves updated letter. Which by the way is Awesome and he sounds like he is doing so great!

FABULOUS!!

My fabulous fashionista!! I had the CUTEST picture of my daughter, and I guess I deleted it because now I can not find it. But I have a story behind it that is just great! Halli is so into fashion, and makeup, and hair, and girly stuff it is not funny! she always tells me she can not wait to grow up so she can wear heels and RED lipstick (oh heaven help me!) Well a few saturdays ago we were going to Ethans basketball game and Halli came down, decked out from head to toe! She had on her glittery brown hat and matching scarf. Her glittery purple sunglasses. lipgloss, hair in pig tails, brown fur boots, jeans, her pink purse, and hot pink I pod in her ears....it was seriously picure worthy and I am sad that I lost the pic. anyway, as we were driving in the car to the game she was looking in the mirror and she sais
" I think I will take off my glasses, cause I am looking way to FABULOUS!" I died! I hope I remember that forever! I did post some other pictures showing how cute her spunky little personality is...and to top it of the song I have playing is FABULOUS by Ashy Tisdale from High School musical. she has it on her i pod and sings it all the time. She is 8...what am I going to do when she is 13?

Steves letter, he must be busy!

Well as you all know we are supporting our missionary out in brazil. And while I know he doese not have a lot of time for writting. I sometimes think that since we have the convenience of internet and weekly corespondence I should be getting bigger letters....I mean I guess I should be thankful that I know he is alive, right?
Also I hear from other people that he sends people like 4 page written letters? whats up with that? Anyway I am just feeling a liitle bummed. I was hoping to hear more about how and WHAT he is doing out in the feild. his last letter above was all
I got last week and this week is even shorter. But I guess it's o.k. we love him anyway. And it sounds like he is having a lot of success and he is safe and happy, that the best news of all and we are proud of him!

I was tagged by my friend Kellye, all about my hubby and I love his arms in this pic. (and no, kelly T. I did not go to bed after scrapbooking...obviously) here it goes..
1. What is his name? Corey
2. How long have you been married? 10 Years. That seems like forever. Sometimes I think "how can that be? it seems like it was only yesterday!
3. How long did you date? dated 3 months, proposed, broke up for three months, got back together ..proposed again, got married. from start to finish, 11 months (BTW the song playing 'chicago, hard to say i'm sorry' was our get back together after break up song... I know, cheesy)
4. Who eats more sweets? That is hard to say. but I really don't eat candy very much, so I would say Corey on that, but if it is dessert, I would say me.
5. Who said I love you first? Wow! I am trying to remember! I think it might have been me! isn't it sad that I can't remember that. I am sure it is in my journal. I wil lhave to go look it up.
6. Who is taller? Corey
7. Who can sing better? o.k. so if we were on american idol, we would be on the HORIIBLE singers outakes. for sure because we are both horrible, but Corey loves to sing to the top of his lungs all the time, all day! it drives me nuts! and I would miss it if it wasn't there.
8. Who is smarter? Depends...Corey with book smarts for sure. Me on lots of other stuff. together we make a great combo.
9. Who does the laundry? wait, were suppost to do laudry? I hate laundry. It gets done painstakingly by me. Corey helps when I force him to. He is definatly a better folder thatn I am.
10. Who pays the bills? Me.
11. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? It seems like we switch whenever we move. right now I sleep on the right. if your standing at the end of the bed looking at it. But since corey works nights most of the week and we do not sleep together the whole bed in mine at night, his in the day.
12. Who cooks dinner? I do, and just for the warning, if anything ever happend to me, someone please make sure my kids get fed something besides cereal and weinerschintzel!
13. Who drives? I like to when we are together, because I seem to do a lot of passenger driving which always leads to a fight. It is just better if I am in control. and corey burns through the gas with his lead foot. And face it gas prices are just way too high for that kind of behavior!
14. Who is more stubborn? I want to say him... but I am afraid I might be, He is always so quick to say sorry and make things right. I like to hold onto it a little longer.
15. Who kissed who first? THE GREAT DEBATE. he swears it was me. I swear it was mutual! but to tell you the truth it could have been me. I mean it was about time we had been dating for three weeks solid. It was new years eve... it could have been me, he was such a slow mover.
16. Who asked who out first? corey asked me, I turned him down twice for other plans, and then I decided I better ask him before he gave up on me!
